Integriertes Technologie-Roadmapping zur Unterstützung nachhaltigkeitsorientierter Innovationsprozesse

In the project „Innovation Paths for a Sustainable Information Society” the Institute for Futures Studies and Technology Assessment (IZT) further developed the roadmapping
method. IZT extended the method to include aspects of sustainable development at the level of innovation strategy and at the level of research politics. The project was funded
by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research in the context of the socioecological research program (research number 07IFS03A).
Roadmapping is an already established and increasingly applied foresight tool. It has been mainly used to foster technology-driven product and service developments.
However, in most roadmapping projects socio-economic and socio-ecological aspects play only a minor role. The resulting technology pictures are often restricted, focused on
technological feasibility and lacking the socio-ecological context.
In the current project IZT developed a new concept to overcome the existing deficiencies: the concept of “integrated roadmapping”. The aim of integrated roadmapping is to integrate societal needs, customers needs and the assessment of risks and side effects in the innovation process at an early stage.
