Zukunftsverträgliche Arbeits- und Unternehmensgestaltung in der Tourismuswirtschaft. Herangehensweisen, Lösungen und Praxisbeispiele

Despite the growth of the tourism industry, a more differentiated analysis shows re-gional and in some cases contradictory trends. Mainly it is economically weak regions at the periphery or in rural areas which have not been able to benefit from the generally positive trend in the tourism sector. In particular, given the global dimensions of international competition, these regions are confronted with the need to strengthen the competitiveness of their destinations by working out new courses of action. In addition, they need to consider that the market is in a constant state of flux and that the expectations of customers are always rising.
However, the necessary strengthening of these destinations’ competitiveness is held up by a comparatively low innovation tempo and a disinclination to make use of new technologies for new ways of working and structuring business and process innova-tions by means of e-business. This reticence needs to be overcome.
Based on a targeted mix of research and consulting services an optimisation of the business and work organisation and also consulting and support services was develo-ped and made available. Although the technology aspects play a major role, the questions of if and how the requirements of the regional tourism actors can be better met by e-business solutions, and how information and communications technology can contribute to the future-oriented organisation of businesses, are also addressed here. Against this background, the use of e-learning and change management in particular are examined with respect to the teaching and change processes to be undertaken, and the possibilities for teleworking discussed.
