Integrated Technology Roadmap Automation 2020+

Project Overview:

The „Integrated Technology-Roadmap Automation 2015+” that was published last year was a real success. Giving orientation and impetus for future automation needs based on socio-economic trends and being a novel approach to roadmapping, the study was very well received by the Automation Industry. Therefore the Automation Association of the ‘German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association (ZVEI)’ continues the roadmapping process.

Based on the existing roadmap, the group suggests to investigate various future markets in the fields of energy and water/waste water, putting an emphasis on the international dimension of these markets. Further topics to be explored are the infrastructural challenges of ’mega cities’. The goal of these studies is to identify new automation needs for transport, energy and water/waste water infrastructures. In the past, directly including representatives of the automation manufacturers and users in the roadmapping process has turned out to be a decisive success factor. Therefore, expert interviews and workshops with experts and users will again play an important role in the upcoming project in order to identify automation needs and future perspectives.
