Visitor Information

Our institute is located in a short walking distance (cf. the map below) from the S-Bahn station “Schlachtensee“ (Line S1). From "Schlachtensee", cross the small road towards Schlachtensee center, follow „Breisgauer Straße“, and turn right onto "Schopenhauerstraße".

From Berlin Central Station (Berlin Hauptbahnhof) take a local train (Regionalexpress) lines RE1 (direction Magdeburg/Brandenburg) or RE 7 (direction Dessau) to the station Berlin Wannsee and change there into S-Bahn line S1 (direction Oranienburg/Frohnau) two stops until Schlachtensee – OR – you take at Hauptbahnhof S-Bahn line 7 (direction Potsdam Hbf) until S-Bahn station Nikolassee and change there into S-Bahn line S1 (direction Frohnau/Oranienburg), one stop until Schlachtensee.

From Train Station Berlin Südkreuz you take S-Bahn line S 41 or S 46 (Circle Line direction Westkreuz) one stop to S-Bahn station Schöneberg. There, you change into S-Bahn line 1 (direction Wannsee) und continue to Schlachtensee.

From both train station, you’ll need approx. 45 minutes to reach IZT.

From Train Station Berlin Wannsee (regional trains, few long-distance trains) you’ll reach S-Bahn station Schlachtensee within a few minutes by taking S-Bahn line S1 (direction Oranienburg/Frohnau).

From Airport Berlin-Tegel (TXL) the quickest way to IZT is to take Bus X9 and drive two stops to S-Bahn station Jungfernheide. There, you change to S-Bahn line 42 (Circle Line direction Westkreuz/Südkreuz) und continue three stops until Westkreuz. There, you change to S-Bahn line 7 (direction Potsdam Hbf) and continue two stops until Nikolassee and change again to S-Bahn line S1 (direction Frohnau/Oranienburg), one stop until Schlachtensee. Reaching IZT from Tegel Airport will take you approx. one hour.

From Airport Berlin-Schönefeld (SXF) you take S-Bahn line S45 (direction Hermannplatz) until S-Bahn station Neukölln. There, you change to S-Bahn lines S 41 or S 46 (Circle Line direction Westkreuz). At S-Bahn station Schöneberg you finally change to S-Bahn line 1 (direction Wannsee) and continue to Schlachtensee. Reaching IZT from Schönefeld Airport will take you approx. one hour and twenty minutes.

Approaching the Institute from Berlin city center via the Avus (A115) take exit "Schlachtensee". Turn left and continue straigt on for about 1 kilometer. Turn left onto Spanische Allee and continue about one block to IZT.

Approaching the Institute from Potsdam on the A115, take exit "Schlachtensee" shortly after entering Berlin. Turn right and continue straigt on for about 1 kilometer. Turn left onto Spanische Allee and continue about one block to IZT.
