Nachhaltige Bestandsbewirtschaftung nicht erneuerbarer knapper Ressourcen. Handlungsoptionen und Steuerungsinstrumente am Beispiel von Kupfer und Blei

The research project investigates options and instruments to support a sustainable usage of non-renewable scarce resources with a focus on copper and lead. Compared to other mass metals they are outstandingly scarce. However, the average input rates of secondary copper and lead in total production achieve only about 55 %. Mass flow diagrams display usage patterns, value chains and interfaces between main actors. For ten areas of main interest, among them electric and electronic equipment, motor vehicles and buildings, the potentials for sustainability have been identified in interviewing more than 50 experts, e.g. product developers, environmental managers and representatives from environmental agencies and organisations. Based on an analysis of impediments and success factors for recycling and substitution promising measures have been derived. The project resulted in a mix of instruments for sustainable use of coper and lead, which has been approved under political and judicial aspects.
