For the third time, the industry association “ZVEI - German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers” commissioned the IZT to develop integrated roadmaps for its member companies in the automation sector. In this project, the focus is on the sustainable supply of raw materials and particularly on substituting scarce raw materials and on recovering reusable materials. One of the two new roadmaps is specifically dedicated to the subject "Recycling as a source of raw materials". The second roadmap focuses on the structural transformation from an oil- to a bio-based chemical industry. Barriers and drivers of this industrial change will be identified. The title of the Second Roadmap is: "Industrial Biotechnology". The time horizon stretches up to the years 2025+.
IZT works on inter- and transdisciplinary futures studies, sustainability design and technology assessment. It also investigates early identification of opportunities and risks, with a focus on transformation, participation and stakeholder integration.
