Education for Resource Conservation and Resource Efficiency (Network)

The network "Education for Resource Conservation and Resource Efficiency" (BilRess-NW) is under the patronage of Dr. Barbara Hendricks Federal Minister for the Environment . It is designed to increase awareness of resource conservation and resource efficiency in all areas of education. The second funding phase (2015-2019) is the continuation of the project "Education for Resource Conservation and Resource Efficiency" (2012-2016), now under the umbrella of the VDI Center for Resource Efficiency. The BilRess-Network is carried out in the framework of the „Kompetenzzentrum Ressourceneffizienz 2015–2019“ (Competence Centre for Resource Efficiency 2015–2019) which is run by the VDI Centre for Resource Efficiency (VDI ZRE). Example of the current educational work: The BilRess network presented its learning station "Resource conservation and the mobile phone" on April 21, 2016 at the "Zukunftstour 2016". Copper and aluminum, glass and plastic: for these four selected production materials, the learning station provided the primary raw materials as exhibits: chalcopyrite, bauxite, sand-potash-soda and crude oil. The total weight of the ecological backpack of a mobile phone amounts to 75.3 kg, which visitors could experience by lifting this weight. (see photo). The learning station can be invited nationwide to school pedagogical events.
