Overview

Key function of the Delphi study is to supplement the ongoing research and working process and specifically the project "From Roadmaps to Reality (R2R)" of the European Climate Foundation (Brussels) and its cooperation partners. The analysis focuses on the extent to which the European Commission's planned decarbonisation pathway is on track. The Delphi survey serves as an assessment of risks to staying on track and on relevant policy measures and solutions.

For this purpose more than 100 experts in the field of energy transition in Europe participated. Based on findings and results of the ECF-project "From Roadmap to Reality" the survey asked the experts for their expectations and assessment of a set of hypotheses regarding the development of various technical and socio-economic possibilities as well as political options that may be relevant for energy transition in Europe over the coming few decades (until the year 2030). The outcome will be an overview of these specific developments regarding their relevance, their probability and the timeframe within they may be realized.

The study will be finished by the end of the year 2013.
