The IZT is conducting a research project on the topic "health apps".
The topic "health apps" is currently much discussed and of great importance for both individuals and politics. The performance of mobile terminals has greatly improved in recent years. Therefore increasing amounts of qualified health data are collected and analyzed through health apps. The applications of health apps cover a broad range from diverse forms of health promotion, to simple measures of prevention to specific interventions in manifest diseases. Basic leading questions of this TA study are: What are the risks and opportunities arising from widespread use of health apps, both, regarding privacy issues and increased health literacy of users. Which actors can be strengthened to avoiding infringements of privacy? What are the political implications arising from the findings?
In summer 2016, an explorative online survey will be carried out of the key stakeholders in the topic (www.stakeholderpanel.de).
