Overview

Operating today’s rail stations is a complex affair with numerous activities and multi-level priorities to be managed on a daily basis while at the same time planning for the medium and long-term future.

This study is meant to provide tangible advice for station managers, planners and professional alike in relevant sustainability aspects of stations activities. At the same time, is intended to demonstrate that sustainability is a genuinely strategic topic, which by becoming an integral part of the development strategies will enrich the long-term quality and values of railways stations.

The ultimate goals are to improve the stations attractiveness by enhancing customer safety and experience, increasing overall revenues and on the top of that reducing negative environmental effects in the entire life cycle.
