In a complex, interconnected world, challenges and problems can be solved less and less by isolated individual sciences. For this reason, the City of Vienna's Magistrate 23 commissioned the IZT to produce a handbook to help Vienna's universities of applied sciences integrate the humanities, social sciences and cultural studies more closely into their research projects. The two IZT authors developed the handbook in dialogue with national education experts and in transdisciplinary cooperation with the addressed Viennese universities of applied sciences. In Vienna, technical, natural and economic sciences - supported by the handbook - should now design innovations in such a way that they are not only socially accepted but also integrated into existing socio-cultural practices.
