Those who want to help shape the future must have the ability to communicate their ideas for it. Neither the opinion that everything will continue to develop consistently nor mere wishful thinking are productive. What it takes is foresight for the future.
The futures studies of the IZT aims to deliver a solid basis for medium and long term oriented decisions in political economic and social areas. The safeguard of the probable, the possible or the malleable are determined by the task-specific selection and combination of various scientific processes as well as the societal discourse.
Participation in the understanding of the IZT is thought of as a reflective learning process for relevant decision makers and stakeholders. It leaves the future open, expands the spectrum of possibilities and creates room to evaluate alternative futures.
