Digital Transformation in the Global South: Transatlantic principles for value-based cooperation

The US and the EU have different approaches to digital development cooperation - yet there are many similarities. In a short study, a team of experts from the US and the IZT, in cooperation with the German Development Institute (DIE), analysed the common principles and outlined the needs of partner countries in the Global South. Policy paper on digital geopolitics in the Global South in the context of development policies

With its digital geopolitics, the European Union is pursuing a regulatory approach that prioritises data protection and privacy and harmonises innovation and market orientation with the premises of sustainable development. But to what extent is this model also attractive and suitable for the rapidly developing countries of the Global South?
