Technology and Innovation

Technology and innovation are important prerequisites for overcoming the problems of the future. The IZT identifies and assesses technological and market developments as well as user-related challenges, including unintentional health, ecological and social consequences.

The IZT supports economic and political institutions through efficient detection and reliable assessment of opportunities and risks. IZT scientists identify innovative ideas, analyse driving forces and obstacles, initiate sustainable innovation projects and evaluate their consequences and successes. The focus of the IZT lies on future markets and service development. The institute integrates interested stakeholders, users, visionaries and lead users into the research and development process. With its expertise, the IZT develops methods, tools and strategies and uses them in line with the client.

The IZT has linked (new) technologies and innovation for more than 30 years. The proactive review of new technologies is a recognized core element of our work: Since 2013, the IZT is a consortium member of the Office of Technology Assessment at the German Bundestag (TAB).
