Sleeping photovoltaic systems for environmental communication

On many school-roofs, solar power plants are slumbering, which have been paid for by energy suppliers, foundations, national government or federal states. In Berlin alone, for example, there are a total of 100 of such school-roofs. Among them are, however, many school facilities, which are not used pedagogically. At times there are building defects, or pedagogical concepts are lacking or simply no one feels responsible for the facility. The aim of the project "Solarsupport" is to remedy this situation. In order to achieve this goal, ten exemplary facilities are optimized for educational purposes, then a training event for further education is planned, a competition is launched and a best practice brochure developed. The project is financed by the German Ministry of the Environment and will run until May 2009.
