How do young people think about new food trends?
Breakfast eggs made of algae, burgers made of insects, patties made of the seeds of flowering lupines: Increasingly, such new and unconventional food items are being launched on the market. They are supposed to be representatives of a future without animal misery; they promise low CO2 emissions and healthy nutrients for billions of people. In this research project, the IZT aims to introduce young people to the ethical, legal and social aspects of such foods. Thus far the greatest attention in the debate was attracted by a new product that should reach market maturity in 2021 at the earliest: Meat, artificially produced in the laboratory, with the flavour properties of beef or pork.
