The IZT - Institute for Futures Studies and Technology Assessment welcomes Professor Rammler in his new role as external shareholder.

Prof. Dr Stephan Rammler has stepped down from his position as Scientific Director to fulfil his long-held wish to work as a freelance author. He will remain closely associated with the IZT. Thus, at the shareholders' meeting on 19 July 2023, it was decided to admit him as an external shareholder. In addition to the management, the employees are also shareholders and thus active co-creators of the Institute.

Prof. Dr Stephan Rammler has been Scientific Director at the IZT - Institute for Futures Studies and Technology Assessment in Berlin since 1 October 2018. With his visionary, often provocative way of thinking, he provided valuable impulses. This enabled topics such as transformative resilience to be taken up early on at the IZT and translated into projects. This thematic focus will also shape IZT's future work as a consortium partner of the Office of Technology Assessment at the German Bundestag (TAB).

Currently, his special research interest is climate futurology and climate resilience. We will certainly be hearing or reading about him in this context soon. His other research interests include transport, energy and innovation policy. He also researches the connection between digitalisation and sustainability. Against this background, he initiated the project CO:DINA - Transformation Roadmap Digitalisation and Sustainability, which addresses the existing research gaps and identifies previously unconsidered interactions between digitalisation and sustainability, thus developing decision- and action-relevant knowledge for politics, business and society.

Prof. Dr. Stephan Rammler was the founding director of the Institute of Transportation Design (ITD) from 2007 to 2014 and Professor of Transportation Design & Social Sciences at the Braunschweig University of Fine Arts from 2002 to 2022.
