The project involves identifying and analysing different scenarios for possible crisis situations and their impact on catering structures in the education sector. Different factors such as duration, scope (local-regional or nationwide) or "weight" of the disruption (electricity is more important than heating) as well as different causes of crises that occur (e.g. pandemic, natural disasters, construction measures), regional differences in the supply structure (rural and urban) and different educational institutions are taken into account.

Subsequently, solution strategies will be developed for the various crisis scenarios in order to strengthen the existing structures of daycare centre and school catering in Germany. The aim is to ensure that daycare centre and school authorities and other stakeholders involved in providing catering are better prepared for future crisis situations and are able to react appropriately in crisis situations.

The following questions are to be answered in the course of the project:

- What crisis scenarios are conceivable that could have a negative impact on the supply structures of educational institutions with healthy lunches?

- What specific effects on supply structures, such as damage to infrastructure, restrictions or disruption to supply chains, are to be expected for different crisis situations?

- What could strategies look like to ensure a supply of healthy and balanced meals in the event of a crisis?

- What preparations can those responsible make today to be able to react quickly in the event of a crisis and avoid a supply failure as far as possible?

Finally, the solution strategies are translated into concrete recommendations for action and prepared for the creation of a digital toolbox as the central product of the project.
